January 23, 2007: Uno Chicago Grill

So, it’s not Pizzeria Uno. Not sure if it was Pizzeria Uno before, or if it has been Uno Chicago Grill all this time. Anyway, no matter, it was another opportunity to have a mini-reunion again, and not even a week gone by!

I was late in leaving my school that evening, had a bit of news/gossip with the office before going out. Mostly about the high schools our sons (and other people’s sons) would be going to. I walked across a few blocks looking for a bus that would go downtown. Hah! I find out later I just needed to walk one block to catch the bus. What can I say? Adventures in Harlem.

To tell you the truth, I could not remember who Lorelei was and had no idea what she would look like. So, I stood outside the restaurant, calling Nick for her phone number, when here comes a woman. We both stare for a second and say, “Are you?” Well, there you go, pick one: maganda can recognize maganda, matalino knows matalino., etc. Who comes a minute later? Another maganda, matalino, etc... Mitzie.

We ordered pizza, talked about the then and the now. Won’t, can’t, mustn’t say any of the stuff we made kwento (I’ll never tell…). If you want to know, then punta ka sa reunion! We also discussed more of the other things to be done for the reunion. Read below.

It was a nice evening … and yes, Marius, I had another raspberry colada for you.

P.S. Topic of interest? How did we meet our husbands? Not posting that here. If you want to know, again, I’m telling you to come to the reunion!

P.P.S. Wow Mitzie! Your post sounded like me today. My Kindergarten was working on publishing a newspaper for next week: Catholic Schools Week: The Good News in Education. I was getting impatient with the drafting, corrections and final publishing, basically, I was taking the students individually today. Do this, do that, you said it, you wrote it, don’t go changing it now, I’m not going to do your work for you, see, I told you you can do it, look at that, how difficult was that, you did it!

It moved a lot faster that way than the brainstorming we did earlier in the week.

Ah, if anyone is in the area next Wednesday, I have a Parent’s Night. Come see my student’s newspaper, visit my classroom, and listen to me sell the school to you. Mayroon powerpoint presentation pa!

Final note:

Should any of you decide to send a complaint in, please remember to make three hard copies, send all three to my desk, and I will promptly file all of them in the round file beside my desk.

As for violent reactions, handa ang ruler ko, note to home, sabay pitik sa tainga, as I make you kaladkad sa office, where you will call your mother and tell her why you have been pulled out of the reunion class!

Let us proceed with the reunion plans. You already know that there was
a meeting held January 18, then again January 23 with LL from
Canada (kita nyo yan, mga NYers, taga Canada pa ang dumayo sa meeting!!)
So, briefly, these are the things discussed:

1. HOTEL - reminding you to call in your bookings now. Deadline
for the reservation will be February 16, 2007 (yes, already extended but
that's just a few weeks away). After that Affinia will release the
rooms and you can say goodbye to the cheapest rate that you can get for
that caliber of a hotel in New York. Remember to introduce yourselves
as "(email us for code)" and NOT K**, NOT UP D**, NOT M**,
Ph**. Need I say why?! You can look for Leo at the
reservations. She can help you better.

2. REUNION FEE - folks, it was decided that we have to collect a
reunion fee of $50.00 per person. This is to cover the cost for the
reunion dinner at Krystals and other costs to be incurred for the
reunion event. Don't worry, all pennies will be accounted for and
reported to you. Kung may sobra, we'll leave it to the group to decide
on what to do with it. We need to collect this as soon as possible.
Please send in your checks made payable to L** P**. Please email
Lauri for her mailing address, for those who do not know. Krystals is
asking for 50% deposit. As it is, I don't know how many are coming so I
don't know the 50% of what. So, I am not going to go into contract with
them until your money is collected. Sorry, nakataga ang credit rating
ko dito. Deadline for this is at the end of February (the 28th).

3. FUNDRAISING SCHEME - we will proceed with the 50/50 raffle. We
will be selling $1.00 per ticket stub (tama ba Lauri and Lorelei?) at
the registration. Yung hindi makakapunta, you still have a chance by
mailing in your money as well to Lauri. Say, D wants to buy $20.00
of ticket, Lauri will set aside 20 stubs. Pagdating ng raffle, kung
manalo si D, ipapadala namin yung winnings mo sayo. Okay ba? We
will also be doing an auction there. Kung anu ano yung items, you will
know only then. Para may suspense. So, please have your check books
and your pens ready. Of course, welcome na welcome ang cash.

4. LOGO - M and R, we would like to delegate this job to
you. If you can come up with one, then tuloy ito. Kung wala, then
wala. Ganon talaga eh. We will leave that to you. Whatever you can
come up with, walang magrereklamo sa amin. Tapos na yung democratic
rule. Dictatorship na tayo ngayon.

5. SLIDE PRESENTATION - Msa, since you will be doing this, I
would like to give this responsibility to you. Everyone, please email
your pictures to Msa so she can prepare them. This will be the last
time that you will be hearing this from me. Kapag ginalit ninyo si
Msa, she will let loose the bulls from her father's ranch to run you
over.

6. J - we ran some problems with the host/emcee for this
event. You have been highly recommended for this position. So, you are
duly appointed to emcee this event. Sa tingin ko...ooopss English pala.
I believe that you can do a remarkable job of it. By the way, very
nice Sena newsletter. Just got it last night. Wonderful family!

7. W & P - would you like to share a room?

8. LL & M - they are now making their booking for their
rooms. Lucky you. You get to choose rooms kasi first kayo nag-reserve.

Going back to hotel, I just made a typo error on the rate per person. I
based it from a $239/nite room rate instead of a $249/nite. If anyone
interested to know the per person rate for this, ask me individually.
Also, to review any topics discussed before, please go to Lauri's link
to her blog. She has made her blog available for us for record keeping.

If there is anything else that needs to get done, I will just appoint
people..........masarap pala kung point lang ako ng point ng taong
gagawa. Walang hassle.
