Untitled Poem
by Ann Pass
Don't talk to strangers
that's what we keep telling the kids
We keep telling them and telling them
till we're ready to flip our lids.
Don't take sweets, no matter what
and don't get in no car
Or you'll find the person with you
may take you a bit too far.
Don't be tempted by puppies
and don't be tempted by kittens
don't be tempted by warm places
wear your hat, scarf, and mittens.
If your mum, or uncle, or sisters
say they're going to collect you
don't go with anyone else
whatever they want you to do.
if you're not so sure
then glance around and have a look
see if you can see a policeman
and let him jot it down in his book.
And if it's someone you don't know
just stand and scream and shout
you're bound to get some attention
off someone who'se about.
And for all you kids out there
take some advice from me
take notice what your parents say
as sometime they do know what's best
you see.
