dauntless

i will never be able
in my lifetime
to cast off these chains of oppression
for society has seen fit
to cast me in so many negative roles
they do not see the little girl
who played under the warm summer sky
nor do they see the young woman
struggling with so many issues
ready to explode
ready to die
and society cares not
for the woman i am today
they have their labels
and that is all that matters to them
but there is still something
of the innocent child at play in me
who hits walls hard because she does not see them
she was not taught about these walls
only to reach for what you want
play fair and honest
love with all your heart
and the prize can be yours
