Tattoo

I have a tattoo
it¹s a hand with a spiral
in the center of the palm.
the spiral spins around
down into the center
to the beginning and the end.
it is high on my thigh
turned at a slight angle
tilted toward my center.
it is covered by my shorts
spinning its journey in secret.
it takes me to other places
where I have not yet been
places I am not afraid to visit
but where I cannot stay.
I travel on this journey
hoping to see you again,
to have you in my palm,
spinning along with me.
the tattoo is taken from native american rock art
the spiral stands for power and healing
