Rendezvous

silent vapors spill across the road
she walks with muted footfalls
	concealed in soft grass carpeting
	a vast inviting field
in the distance
	holding tightly to the night
approaches one with whom she has an appointment
one who seeks this silent world
to play the game of love
mist plays in her hair
and moonglow casts down shadows
	reflecting in her eyes
	life's wonder of night
	her respect for vanquished light
captured in her bosom rests
a young heart's plea for understanding
while her faith in present thought
brings joy to one whose troubled mind
	finds harmony
	within the cloak of night
come closer to the edge
and pay attention to your lover's eyes
	they will not lie
for they are windows to the soul
and tell a multitude of tales
	to all unwary hearts
walk along - hurry
to your lover's arms
feel them close tightly
to shut out the night
	then walk to the window
	of tomorrow
	to see your victory
but later still, you both must part
before the light
	of clear, bright day
removes your secrecy
