So Still The Night
so still the night
the cats resting and all
alone
there is a space for one who belongs here
vacant
a jest if you will
the court has been diminished
the prince is not within the castle keep
we've looked for him
he is not here
perchance a bit of faerie magic
of wonderful woods full of dreams
of willful play and stories spun by the light of the moon
and perhaps in days to come there will be justice done
the prideful will fall upon their knees
they will plead for mercy for these follies
will we listen
or will we behave just as they had
wrongly
