USS HAWKBILL SSN 666

"And I stood upon the land of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea. . . Here is Wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is 666" (revelations 13)

The USS Hawkbill (SSN 666) is without a doubt a great boat - not because I am an evil and sadistic man with thoughts of overthrowing the government and making myself king so that I may laugh at all the stupid people (hoo heee ha ha!) - but because this is my boat. We are like one.

KEEL LAID: September 12, 1966 LAUNCHED: April 22, 1969 COMMISSIONED: February 4, 1971 DECOMMISSIONED: September 1999 LENGTH: 292 FT BEAM: 32 FT DISPLACEMENT: 4060 tons TEST DEPTH - deep CRUSH DEPTH - really deep MAX SPEED - nothing special, but classified CAPTAIN: CDR Perry THINGS TO DO UNDERWAY: sleep, sleep, and sleep some more

I imagine the water in Hawaii should look much like the wallpaper in the background of this web page (and it does, but dirtier). The Hawkbill is based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, but doesn't stay there for more than 5-6 months a year. The rest of the time it spends out to sea defending the precious waters of the United States of America and occasionally shooting a blue whale for fun.:)~

If you look really close, you can see me drowning in this picture. Actually, when this picture was taken in Darwin, Australia in 1996, I was still attending Murray State University in southern Kentucky dreaming of going to places like Japan, Australia, Korea, Guam, the Phillipines and countries of that sort.

Well, I'll just keep dreaming! The only place this baby/boat is going is the North Pole to party with Mr. Santa and his extremely kinky elves (at least that was my impression). Hoo-ahh!

Of course, you'll never go to the North Pole and I will have been there not once, but twice, so I understand the plight and personal anguish you must go through on a daily basis never having experienced the wonders and awe of the North Pole in all of its magnificent glory. What was the phrase that Mr. T made famous? I pity the fool!

Anyways, for those of you who have never had the pleasure of seeing a surfaced submarine at the North Pole, stare away with reckless abandon (alas! I am not in any of these pictures)!

Back to where it all began!
I wish I was in the Navy, Jerry!
