Last summer I issued a challenge on my archive site Yerf as a way to get the other artists involved. Little did I know it would last this long or become this involved. It originally started as a contest, which ran until Jan. 1, 1998. I said that anyone until that time would be included in a group picture of artists drawn by me.
The group picture of artists is almost done! There are a few artists I need to add still, so I apologize if you don't see your character here.
Also, you can check out the submissions below. The thumbnails are only a small portion of the final picture (only a close-up of the face). Be sure to let the artists know how great their work really is!
Author: | Richard E. Dye | |

Comments: | Robert had two ideas, so he sent in two entries. They're both great! I've never pictured Gwendel as an amazon before. |
Author: | Marie Lu (PI BlueAngel)
Artwork Archive: | http://www.yerf.com/lumarie/index.htm
Comments: | Thank you, BlueAngel, for such a really sweet picture of Chibi Gwendel. Strawberry, yum! |

Comments: | I was pleased when I received this rough sketch of Gwendel; then Matt Peters surprised me by sending a color picture as well. |
Author: | Evan David Ostroski (Algernon)
Comments: | Algernon is a novice with some pretty cute ideas. (PS, yes, he did get his nickname from "Flowers for Algernon", but don't tell him I told you) |
Author: | Emilie Bosworth (Commando Bunny)
Homepage: | http://nightingale.cjb.net

Author: | Albert Temple (Gene Catlow)
Homepage: | http://home.earthlink.net/~genecatlow/
Artwork Archive: | http://www.yerf.com/tempalbe/index.htm
Comments: | Gene Catlow is very popular on Yerf. If you want to know why, just take a look at some of his adorable cartoons. |
Author: | King's Rook (Glumilan)
Comments: | Glumlian stunned me with this picture. I had never seen his artwork before, and wasn't aware he could draw. I'd also never before pictured Gwendel as a superhero. Tres cool. |
Author: | T. Jordan Peacock (Greywolf)
Comments: | Jordan's my favorite artist, but then, I'm biased. Gwendel masquerades with her husband's character,Greywolf. |
Author: | Ken Stone (Horse)
Homepage: | http://www.anime.net/~kens/
Comments: | Kawaii! Ken Stone draws the cutest deer and centaurs. I love what he can do with texture and color. |
Author: | Jason Furness (Howie/Mark)
Artwork Archive: | http://www.yerf.com/furnjaso/index.htm
Comments: | Jason has done a good many strips starring his own Howie the cat and Mark the Duck. My personal favorite was the Ichabod the Snail storyline he put on Yerf. Definitely worth a read. |
Author: | Conrad Wong (Lynx)
Homepage: | http://www.best.com/~lynx/
Comments: | Lynx does some wonderful realistic-looking animals. He encouraged me not only to use photographs as art references but visit zoos for animals and studying people for real. |
Author: | Wendy Oster (Mistletoe)
Homepage: | http://www.uwm.edu/~wendyo/
Artwork Archive: | http://www.yerf.com/ostewend/index.htm

Author: | Po Shan Cheah (Morton)
Homepage: | http://nic.com/~cheah/

Author: | Candy Lewin (Trixi Bigfoot/Haley)
Homepage: | http://www.solfire.com/ | Artwork Archive: | http://www.yerf.com/lewicand/index.htm |
Comments: | Trixi's art has been described as a cross between WB-style and anime, and I think she does a good job at whatever it may be. |
