This is a Sailor Moon fanfic titled "Shades of Light and Darkness."
If your plans on this fine day do not include reading a Sailor Moon fanfic,
you may wish to stop now.

This fanfic should keep you busy until the next millenium, or, if you are a
fast reader, until tomorrow. This fanfic is large. But try it, you might
end up thinking it to be worth the time spent.

"Shades of Light and Darkness" is broken up into two volumes, one in three
parts and one in four.

I started writing this fic about a year ago (spring 1996), and I posted the
first three parts during that summer, under a separate title, The Chosen. If
you have read The Chosen, then consider Perchance to Dream a continuation. The
original has been edited since the last release, but no major plot changes have
been made.

This story takes place after the Alan and Ann attack. It takes the storyline
over at that point, the story never rejoins the original, and none of the
future of Sailor Moon happens. (No outer scouts, nothing that the original
speaks of takes place). This fanfic is based on the NA version of Sailor Moon,
and I have done my best to keep all the facts relating to that version
correct.

Over the year, several people have assisted me in writing this behemoth, and
I'd like to give them credit. Besides, if I say their names now, I'm sure I
can blame them for any complaints. :-)
In no particular order:

Odango (odango@usa.net), who is a wimp and does not want her name
revealed =) edited all of volume two. All 1+ MB. Yes, she's suicidal,
that's what I think, too. She also never got off my back as far as actually
finishing volume two was concerned, so you may blame her if you do not like
Perchance to Dream. If it were not for her, it would not exist.

Albert Lee Vest (alvest@mindspring.com) not only edited Choice, making that part
readable, but he has given me ideas, encouragement, etc. He is also at least
partially responsible for the title of the whole thing. Blame him.

Jim Rodlin (s_phaeton@hotmail.com) gave me a few ideas for Choice, which I
implemented in this, final, version of the fic. He also gave the idea for the
stanzas at the beginnings of the continuation, and he wrote at least some of
them. At this point, I do not remember which ones.

Samah Sohrab (smsohrab@ucdavis.edu) edited Questions, way back last fall, so
you can blame him for any typos in that. Even though I did edit it again this
spring, it's still his fault. :) He also proofread everything else in july
when he read over the fanfic and sent me dozens of my mistakes.

<feels better now that much potential blame has been shifted to others>

This is the final version of this fic - if it is edited again, it will not
be by me. Look for Kenneth Krekeler or Albert Vest on sld.home.ml.org for
continuations/paralells to this series.

Disclaimers:
Anything that belongs to anyone else belongs to them.
Anything that belongs to me belongs to me.
Anything I wrote was written by me.
But not necessarily in that order.

(Apologies to Douglas Adams.)
