I am searching for any members of the Jago/Jagoe
family of Muhlenberg Co. I believe my Susannah
(Jago) Hope was the sister of Abraham Jagoe,
who married Susannah Short and had 7 children
in the Muhlenberg area. Abraham was thought to
be born 1769 in County Cork, Ireland.

Not sure if I can help or not. I descend from Abraham Jago(e), b 1769 in Ireland, d 1833
in Muhlenburg Co. Ky. Incidentally, his wife's name was Sussanah,
but this is not yours, as she was a Short. However,
I have studied your Sussanah Jagoe Hope for this reason.
Abraham Jago(e), my third Great Grandfather,
was said to have come to the US with three brothers, but we cannot find them.
Your Sussanah Jagoe can be found in SC first, then
she appears in Muhlenberg Co. Although I don't know who her parents were,
it is significant that she travels from SC to the same Ky.
county where there are Jagoes. I cannot help but assume she is related,
but I don't know how; perhaps she is a daughther of one of my
Abraham's two brothers whom we know nothing of, and she comes to
Ky. knowing that her uncle is there. Just a theory.
Anyway, I do know that she is in SC before Ky., and
I believe someone in my family has a
record indicating that she was born there. (My Abraham settled in VA
when first arriving in the US, perhaps one of his brothers settles in SC?)
Hope this helps.
Happy hunting, and feel free to correspond.

This is my girlfriend's e-mail.
Write here or to me at: sjagoe@ci.paducah.ky.usThank you Stefan,
We may be cousins. Some people think that my Susannah Jago,
came from Maryland and there is in the 1700's a Walter jago there.
I don't know where she married James Hope or where he is from
for sure but am working on it. In Logan Co. Ky, in the 1820
census I found Jago's and they were Abraham, Jacob and one other.
I will get back to you on this. I have not been to the cemetery
yet in Logan County but plan to. I have the cemetery book from
Logan County and I will look up all the Jago's. I will get back
to you. Alta ( There was a ship in the 1700's from England to
America called the Jago.Susannah Jago who married James J. Hope
may have been born in Maryland, Va., or SC. She lived in Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky.
She was born in 1782 (place unknown) and she died on Dec.3, 1858.
She is buried next to her husband James, in the New Hope Cemetery, Logan Co., Kentucky.
If you know her place of birth, parents, or siblings, I would like to hear from you.
If you know who James'parents are that would help me also.
I have quite a bit of information on the family. Contact me at Altaazzro@aol.com
