Experimental Current 93. Very raw and different from what the band is today. The music is cold and it seems as though no real instruments were used; only synthesizers (at least that is what the outcome sounds like). Current 93 was not yet really the band of David Tibet, since not even all the lyrics are his. The lyrics on this album are not yet quite the greater-than-life poetry that Tibet writes now, but they definitely have more beauty and meaning in them than anything Lord Byron ever wrote. The lyrics and the vocals (more or less distorted) are the only softening elements on this otherwise so hard album. The music is quite intense and disturbing with all the distortion in the background. If the listener is not totally concentrating on the album, it will not work. It is very hard to listen to and requires complete attention. Some of the songs are wonderful (our favourite being "Falling Back in Fields of Rape"). The album has no insignificant moment in it. A lot of repetition might be mistaken for a lack of ideas but when one is concentrating, it helps to create the right kind of mood to get into the spirit of the songs. In all, the album has a very ritualistic feel to it, especially with the song "Raio No Terrasu (Jesus Wept)" that was recorded live.
