Sisters have a lot of tracks that were released early eighties on small edition EPs and such. Since those EPs are rare and the songs hard to get, this compilation is an excellent idea. The songs are from the years 1980 - -84.
Their first EP, "Damage Done", is awful. Eldritch sounds like a 15-year old punk singer and theri playing is really bad. The following releases, Body Electric, Anaconda and Alice, are close to brilliant. On all of these, the music consists of a really heavy bass-line, foreground drum-beat and background guitars. Lyrically, they are some of Eldritch's finest works.
The Reptile House, from 1983, shows a lot of improvement music-wise. The bass-line is now on the back (though still remaining as the defining element in the music) and guitars are more prominent. Lyrics are mostly political, and the only political lyrics that i've found interesting ever (i suppose this is where Hegel's influence on Eldritch shows), but "Lights" is a brilliant philosophical poem of polarisation.
Temple of Love, from 1983. "Temple of Love" is still probably the best-known song of Sisters. The music on this EP starts to be as refined as ever. They manage to alter the Rolling Stones song, "Gimme Shelter", so much that if one would not know, it could be a genuine Sisters song. Switching a few lines of lyrics and playing the song wihtout rock-attitude do the trick. Amazing release of music!
In all, this is a strong compilation album and serves a need (we just wonder if including Damage Done -EP serves any purpose, hopefully much anyone would not wish to hear it).
