In college I was on the outskirts of the thriving Madison, WI music scene. Not a weekend went by that I didn't go to see at least one if not two or three bands perform live. Local bands such as Spooner/Firetown (Members who later went on to form Garbage), The Weeds, Phil Gnarly and the tough guys, The Waterdogs, Ivory Library, Rocket 88, The Other Kids and The Rousers.
As I got older, my career made it more difficult for me to drop everything and go hear a band, especially working the night shift. I had to settle for just listening to the radio or watch MTV to stay up to date with the latest music trends. When my favorite station at the time, 92 WMAD went off the air for a brief period. I went back to my country roots, and explored other genres. Now I will listen to just about anything. My links below prove that.
My musical tastes are rather eclectic.
I grew up listening to classical and easy listening. I found country, but dropped it for top 40 during middle school. In high school I started to broaden my horizons and listened to bands like The Go-Go's, Blondie, The Ramones and The police.
I have listed the links to my favorite Bands/Musicians. Music from each of the musicans/bands below are contained in my personal music collection.(except where they were requested) I hope some of them are your favorites too! Instead of listing by genre I decided to just go alphabetically. My theory is that in order to be a true music lover you need to appreciate all musical types.
I didn't say enjoy.... I said appreciate. There is a difference.
*ATTENTION: I have not updated these links in forever!!! Many are no longer in existance. Sorry for any trouble this may cause you*
