How did I get here? How can I get out? I like your writing style. Had a few chuckles... there's a word for you... chuckle... where did that word originate?

Dear Russell,
Welcome to the Hotel California. What a nice surprise… Bring your... boots? You may need them for my response. Let's see, origin of "chuckle". Like most words written centuries ago I'm wondering if we can really pinpoint the exact moment that word was used. Good thing I have a knack for twisting pieces of information into a plausible answer. Some say it comes from the Middle English word chukken, later just chuck. So what's chuck? Chuck is a term of endearment for chicken. It's the cut of beef that includes the neck. It means to nudge under the chin and also to toss. Its thought that chuckle was the frequent form of chucking. In other words, "Are you laughing like a chicken or choking on some? Its hard to tell." Which if you ever had that occur you'd notice the similarity in sounds and facial expression. Hahahahaha hack hack hack hackkkk. (pause) Ahhhh better. And there you have it. What I strive for from my page is making my readers utter some nice little chickeny chuckles, without the choking, of course. Feel free to cackle and chortle, too. You deserve it.
