Eavesdropping

Every once in a while
I go to a café
And I eavesdrop
It's a habit
I'm standing in the line
Ordering Late
And I eavesdrop
I can't help it

It started out of bordom
The people never knew
I was tuning in
They told their secrets to eachother
And I wrote them down

I learned a lot about girls
How they manipulate
What their friends decide to say
Later on to their boyfriends

Every once in a while
I'm at the picture show
And I eavesdrop
It's a habit
I'm sitting on the aisle
In the preview glow
And I eavesdrop
I can't help it

I'm drawn to conversation
The people never know
And I become informed
And their secrets remain covered
Although written down

I learned a lot about guys
They don't appreciate
What their ex-girlfriend's friends told them to say
Early on to protect their egos

Eavesdropping soothes my brain
Keeps me from going insane
