It was dark when we hatched out
Near the covered lamps by the resort
Some people in black turned us around
When we all went for the light
I found the moon and crossed the beach
I was tired when I hit the sea
I started to eat anything
That floated near me
No one knows of my mystery years
They never asked but I'll confess
Mexico and Panama
The far east and sea of Japan
I met a lot of pretty females
Escaped from sharks and hungry sea whales
Played in a band, almost lost a fin
Before homing in
And when I saw her
I knew she waited
Just for me
It was Janine
We crossed the beach on that night
Now here we were years later
I had to fight to make her mine
I did it for love
Once alone it was bliss
Mating for hours under the waves
I knew my dad would have been proud
I notched her shell; we came up for air
It was "From Here To Eternity"
When the surf crashed on our backs
She said that night, "It was always you"
Before leaving me
I was filmed once or twice
And I've been tagged by scientists
They want to know what I weigh
With whom I mate; the authors I like
I don't mind them, next year I'll write them
I won't be pulled back in the boat
I'm a vegetarian
I'm a sea turtle
This is my life
I'm a sea turtle
Don't hunt me
Don't eat me
Get a life
Leave me alone
I'm quite happy
