"What are furries?..."

{first part borrowed from here 'cause it was so, darn good}

Ok, you're probably saying to yourself, "just what *is* a furry?" Well, furries are animals with human charactoristics, or referred to as anthropomorphic animals. For example, Bugs Bunny, Yogi Bear, Don Bluth cartoons like "The Secret of NIMH"... are all furries. People that enjoy furries are also referred to as being furry, and furriness comes in many different levels. Some people just enjoy watching cartoons or whatnot. Others enjoy drawing furry-type animals (fantasy critters can also be included into this catagory). Some people like to write fictional stories about furries, such as adventures, or romances. Some of these folks are so good at either or both that they have their work published! There are many different furry fanzines out there that cater to furry folk ranging from amateurs to the professionals. Either way, it's something that brings furries together so that they may enjoy each other's work. There are also conventions that furry folk attend to get together with friends, check out the artwork of the furs that draw, maybe do some gaming, and generally have a good time. Some furs even go so far as to attend conventions in fur suits! It allows them to be their charactor. For myself, my RL personality is pretty much the same as my charactor's personality. Basically, furriness is a way of life for a lot of people, it is a part of their personality. It often gives them something to lean on when life becomes a bit much to handle, sometimes furriness helps them deal with life stresses in a more positive way and enables them to be themselves as who they perceive themselves to be. Not everyone is a personal furry, but people around them should accept them for who they are.

"Okay, but Fixate said that we were
necro-furries. What's with the necro part?"
Silk pops out

To confuse you even more, I'm first going to mention that there are artists out there calling themselves Burned Furs that resent using furs as over-endowed sex toys and subjecting them to public orgies. Now, I'd never personally get any of my characters fully nude (though Silk does bare her breasts from time to time), let alone showing any of them having sex, not that there's anything wrong with it. It's just that it's too common and the necro consept is set individuality.

There was another thing wrote by a Burned Fur. That the people who let their furs do this were psychos, and that is why I'm not calling myself a Burned Fur. Yiffing (a.k.a. furodica) is not psychotic. What I do is purposely psychotic. I set my furries into chaos in the same context that others set their furries into yiffing. More out of hope of originality, necrofurries are:

  1. playfully violent with everyone else to the point of drawing blood
  2. generally gory, but done in a cartoonishly colorful way
  3. will sometimes hint at, but never have sex (it's an envy thing, though in Fixate's case there's forbidden insest)
  4. have some connection to a horror theme (Ex. Silk's a ghost, Fixate's a ghoul, and Lastat's a werewolf and a vampire)
  5. are quadripeds pretending to be bipeds, and somewhat digigrade
  6. sometimes use words I'll later forget the dictionary meaning of (it's a ego thing, too)
  7. "live" the seven deadly sins
  8. are improved instead of added to (there are actually only two main characters and three "walk-in" characters

There's still a fine line that sets them apart from being just furries, and they try like hell to enjoy that difference. Finally, unlike Burned Furs, necros aren't looking for other necros (at least not openly) and are satisfied watching the "normal" furries intertwine. I guess that about sums it up.

You can go back now.
