"Love"

He speaks thru the whispering wind.
His eyes rove across the sky
searching for the soul he possesses
and the heart that keeps him alive.

He moves thru the light shadows.
      Darkness parts before him
his desires drive him ever onward
to the love that burns deep within.

He cries with exultation of shared passion.
His body thrums with love magic
      spiraling across the heavens
twined in joyous reunion of love.

The phoenix rises from the ashes
Reunited with earth, wind and fire
The spirit and passion of life
Amid the ruins and shambles of love.

(This poem came to me as I watched a mated pair of Hawks dance across the North Carolina Sky. He had soared waiting, and as she rose from the nest in the trees, he spiraled down to her, their wings wrapping around each other momentarily and you could hear them cry out. It was a most wonderful and beautiful moment. April 8, 1998)
