Mock Ad #13
Phobia Treatment
Fade in to:
Inside a small room. There is a table with several glass containers or jars,
each filled with some sort of bug or creepy-crawly. One contains a tarantula;
another snakes. On the back wall there is a digital clock that reads "13:13".
A young women stands behind the table. She is has bare arms and at least
one bare shoulder. As she speaks the following dialogue, she reaches into
the containers and plays with the taratula, letting it cling to her shoulder,
and then the snake, allowing it to drape across her shoulder.
Woman: "A phobia is an intense and unreasonable fear of some object or situation....
Phobias can interfere with enjoyment of life sometimes.... Many people are
terrified of spiders, for example, such as Clyde here.... Clyde is really
quite nice when you get to know him....arn't you Clyde.... And snakes terrify
a lot of people.... Poor little fellow; so misunderstood.... You're not slimey
at all, are you.... no.... and you're not poisonous either."
At this point she puts the snake down and moves forward, around the table
to go outside. The camera pans and then follows. Out side a second camera
is used.
Narrator: (as the woman walks into and through a forest): "Doctor D. Sensitopolis

spiders, snakes, flying, enclosed spaces, the number thirteen, or anything
else, there is a good chance Dr. Sensitopolis can help you...[By this point,
the woman is walking onto a floating mat of peat, in a swamp. She shows no
sign of fear whatsoever.]... Centrally located in downtown Centerville,

her knees in the bog.] Remember, phobias can be treated.... Stop being

The camera now zooms in on the woman, who is now waist deep and sinking fast.
She sinks to her chin during the following dialogue.
Woman: (with a relaxed smile) "I used to be afraid of a lot of things. I
wouldn't have even looked at a picture of Clyde, never mind held him in my
hands. And snakes were a no no too. But I went to Dr. Sensitopolis for help.
That was just six months ago.... And now.... now I'm sinking in quicksand
and I'm not afraid of even that.... By golly, thanks to the Doctor's help,
I'm not afraid of anything, not even going all the way under in this mire....
[she now slowly goes all the way under; the following words cut off in the
process]. If you have a fear, call now, and ask to speak directly to doctor
Sensitop..."
