Ariella: "Afraid of what? What happened to my sister?"
Shopkeeper: There are rumors."
Ariella: "Rumors about what?"
Shopkeeper: "There are rumors that some one, your sister perhaps, perhaps others stole, ah, maybe found, a great jewel. The Jewel of Doom it is called."
Ariella: "The Jewel of Doom?"
Shopkeeper: "The Jewel brings death, horrible death to those who try to possess it."
Ariella: "Oh, I’ve heard that one before. That’s what they said about the Hope Diamond. Bad luck to its owner."
Shopkeeper: "Your sister was seen in the village near where the Jewel was part of a great statue. She was there the day it disappeared. And there were footprints leading into the jungle."
Ariella: "Footprints? Plural?"
Shopkeeper: Yes. Those of your sister and of the Jungle Girl, Synda. And two others, the Baroness and her assistant. None of them has been seen since."
