On the sorting table is a stack of books. The top one is a family photo album. There is also a childrens book lying there, or at least something that's small and illustrated. It's titled Jane and the Minganboo". Flicking through, you also find the following:
On the edge of the table is a exercise book that someone seems to have left behind. It's crammed full to overflowing with bits and pieces, ticket stubs, maps, loose pieces of paper. The binding has pulled apart from the weight of the contents, and is sort of partly held together by an elastic band that doesn't look like it'll last much longer. The front cover doesn't say much, just giving the impression of maybe a travel diary, or appointments diary, or temporary file and notepad for useful stuff, maybe all of the above together. There's a stapled pamphlet partly wedged into it. You notice two pages have fallen out. One is a loose sheet of five-hole-punched A4 lined paper with some scribble on it and a date at the top. The other has had its edges coloured in green, like several of the loose pages in the exercise book.
There's a slim notebook under the exercise book, labelled A Series of Identities. It's sub-titled "Dedicated to Damian, who keeps swearing he's going to ask me who I am one day".
