Postcard cover - The Olgas, Ayers Rock and Mt Conner

As we walk back down the Valley of the Winds, I am happy. Tracey goes on ahead to reassure the others that we are coming. Heather and I walk slowly, I for my sore and now bleeding feet (I tripped!) and her for the steeper slopes. Bare feet are good on the conglomerate slopes - I feel strong and agile. We return and find the others waiting, ready to go.

We arrive back to the resort, and stop at the supermarket for some dinner ingredients. The small parking lot has a few cars clustered near the entrance but is mostly empty. Someone backs out just as we arrive. The others are thrilled that Spirit has opened up a parking spot for them right at the entrance to the shops. I laugh and say "You Westerners - always having to go straight to what you want". I get funny looks.

They take the time to look at some of the other shops while they are here - each time they've bought food so far, they've driven to the supermarket's front door, walked in, walked out, and never looked to see what is here or in between here and there. I think they've been too busy visiting to spare the time to look. Now they find the tour and info centre, and look at all the things they could have done. One buys a tour guidebook to tell them about the place. We go back to the campground, and begin settling down into preparation for dinner and ritual.
