Este texto fue publicado originariamente como parte de un artículo pa el fanzine americano The Skreem #11 en Mayo de 1995. Se han añadido algunas actualizaciones.

El fenómeno más famoso originado en Sähkö Recordings, Panasonic (ahora llamados Pan sonic), se formó en un principio en el verano de 1993 con el encuentro de dos mentes creativas, Mika Vainio y Ilpo Väisänen. Vainio había trabajado como DJ en los 80´s y creado su propia música con Pertti Grönholm, como Corporate 09. Väisänen era oriundo de Kuopio, Finlandia y acabó en Turku a causa de sus estudios, donde se unió a los miembros de Hyperdelic Housers, grupo que organizaba fiestas raves. Vainio y Tommi Grönlund -quien fundaria el sello Sähkö -entre ellos. Ilpo Väisänen había sido el responsable del poster oficial del festival "Down By The Laituri 1990", y fue además durante ese tiempo un miembro de Ultra 3, un grupo artístico de, después de la adhesión de Mika Vainio fue rebautizado como Sin Ø.

El de una vez tercer miembro de Panasonic, Sami Salo, finalmente se une en 1994 después de entrar en contacto con Vainio y Väisänen a través de Sähko (para quién Salo había grabado un 12" como Hertsi), y su primer EP fue además editado ese año. Paul Smith, el hombre principal de Blast First, subsello de Mute, vió una actuación de Panasonic en Inglaterra a un club llamado Vox en otoño de 1994.
