Beginning artists  should not get upset when a work does not turn out right at their first try. With practise the peice will turn out will. Even artist that have been working for many years make mistakes. A work that you think is bad or just didn`t turn out as you hoped may be a masterpeice to someone else.

If you haven`t any ideas but have a desire to create, You can concentrate on a blank piece of paper and see if a picture is in the grainand draw from it.

Always keep a stock of paper of various size and quality. Poor quality paper, newsprint for example, is good for finding inspiration and doing preliminary work. Medium grade paper is good forany purpose exept for heavy washing with the use of watercolour paint or water soluable pencil. Goodheavy quality paper is good for any purpose , but it is better to use watercolour paper for watercolour painting, charcoal paper for conte or charcoal, and canvas paper for acrylic or oil paint.
