"Other vertical". I named my site after a phrase John H. White (my PJ teacher) use to say durning shooting drills

in class. "Other vertical" referes to the posistioning of your camera while shooting. You normally shoot horizontal or vertical,

but John would tell us, that are going to be times when you can't raise your right elbow, and you're going to have to raise your

left. Hence the name "other vertical." For those of you who know John he's a very spirtual person. I've always believed that

"other vertical" wasn't just about shooting a diferent way, but thinking a different way.

Some people will tell you that everything that can be done in photography has been done already. For those of you who

believe that... For those of you like me, keep looking through the other vertical.

 An extra alarm fire blazes out of control in a warehouse in downtown Joliet, off of Cass st. The fire department received help from other departments as far away as Hammond, IN

 Chicago fire fighters had a difficult problem battling the fire on Grand & Western Ave., where a recycling shop which houses magnesium (an ingredient commonly found in fireworks) caught fire.  Bishop Imesh makes his way down the main asile to start midnight mass Christmas morning at St. Raymond's Cathedral in Joliet.

The comet Halle Bopp, is seen as a faint glow above the western horizon, as it heads back towards the edge of our solar system.Part of the Lost Americana series  Olivet Nazarene University's thirdbaseman Brandon Target, lets one by the hotpocket for a basehit in game one of a double header against CSF.  Joliet Catholic's backup QB Kevin O'Malley (12) joins the huddle at midfield to sing their school's victory song. After defeating the visiting East St. Louis Flyers.  St. Joe's shetland league team's head coach Mark Ksiazak gets 6 year old Andrew Kosak, of Crest Hill ready for summer baseball.

 Leah Collins looks towards her coach in pain and dissapointment after she sprained her ankle in her first of four rythmic gymnastic routines. Paul Dreiling of Hoffman Estates basks in the January morning sun in front of Buddy Guy's Ledgends. Dreiling showed up at 9am for general addmission tickets for that nights sold out show.  Jenny B, the head bartender at the Holiday Club in Wicker Park, pours the most commonly ordered drink in the house, the Martini. Neighbourhood kids use an illegally opened fireplug to cool down on one of the hottest days in Chicago. Not only was it hot but most people lost electrity due to overloads.
