Writers' Corner

Here's where you get a chance to put your work out there to get feedback or just to share. You can submit short pieces of work that will be published on this website, and then others can give you feedback. You get to choose if you want the feedback to be available for everyone to see or just sent to you personally.

Of course, the usual caveats hold: The Kentucky Writers' Coalition is not responsible for what happens to your work after it is published on this page. By submitting your work for publication on this page, you are granting the KWC one-time rights to publish it here for a short period, not to exceed one month. Also, before you solicit a critique of your work, please make sure you are emotionally and mentally ready to accept that criticism. Keep an open mind and a teachable spirit.

Earth to Earth
by Edmund August

When death is born into our lives our first communion
should be in remembrance of that blow to innocence.
We can hide behind the hard scar it leaves or embrace it
as proof that everything worthwhile begins in vulnerability.

My grandmother's headstone, cold and rough as November air
on this moonless night, settles into the dirt she loved to work.
How could I listen to the darkness without recalling her voice
when it was bright and quick as sunlight attacking the dew?

Please click Van Gogh's Postman (above) to submit your work.

To submit something (only one piece at a time, please), please limit it to 20 lines. Longer pieces of fiction will not be contained fully on this page, but will be available on a linked page. On your submission, please include your name, the title of the piece, and whether you would like your feedback to be public or private. Also please cut and paste the following statement into your email message:
"I agree to publish my work for a brief period on this website, and I will not hold the Kentucky Writers' Coalition and its employees and volunteers liable for any misuse of my work by others who visit the page."

*****PLEASE PASTE YOUR WORK INTO THE ACTUAL EMAIL MESSAGE. NO ATTACHMENTS WILL BE OPENED*****
