Commodore

Now let's look at another early microcomputer Commodore systems

Actually there is another earlier Commodore system which I have used but I do not have any graphic on it nor do I remember much about it. It is the Commodore PET. PET stands for Personal Electronic Transactor.

This system here is the CBM or the Commodore Business Machine.

Specifications of the Apple ][ was as follows:

  • CPU - initially 6502 microprocessor, but CBM uses 6504 running at 1 MHz or 2 MHz.
  • RAM Memory of 16K or 32K (a later model).
  • VDU - usually monochrome, 40 characters per line
  • Graphics, poorer than Apple ][, this system was not meant for graphical display
  • Input-Output - initially cassette, later 5.25" diskette.
  • Diskette capacity - 340 Kb per 5.25" diskette

Note that this is a later generation than the Apple ][ I mentioned earlier.
