People Standing in Line
by Daniel L. Mansell - 3/6/99

Taking a step outside the door
and connecting with the world...
It brings about a different perspective
emaculate and enriching, yet curled
I get in my car and drive away
paying the others no mind
And then it hits me suddenly
that we’re just people standing in line...

Every day we wake in the morning
and go to our various jobs
In ones or twos or threes or fours
and sometimes even mobs
At the end of the day we pack our things
and head back to our homes
Quick to be judgmental of others
but never to throw the first stone

With every person in their own world
caring only about their own lives
Not a man is better than the next
no matter how hard we strive...
With women being from Venus
and men being from Mars
It’s funny how we all look out
to see the very same stars

All the while inside our hearts
in that little place that we store
We’re all connected in one way or the other
living in one accord.
We’re all just people standing in line
waiting to get to the top...
We’re all just people standing in line
waiting for it all to stop...
