Title: My Forever Valentine
Writer: Roy Wright
NOTE: This poem was written to my wife
of 28 years who died of breast cancer
at age 52. This poem was written on
Valentine's Day 4 years after her death.
I'm in love with a beautiful woman
And today is Valentine's Day
But what makes this all so difficult
Is she's been taken far, far away
I can't see her, hear her, or touch her
Which causes me great despair
I've been left holding on to a great love
For a woman who's no longer there
They say God knows all things that happen
From the beginning to the end
Then why did he wait till my love was the deepest
To take my lover and very best friend?
She was truly denied a fair shake in life
Amd that eats at my soul everyday
There's nothing I want to enjoy in life
Since she was brutally ripped away
I protected her with all my resources
I prayed like there was no tomorrow
Which in reality, there really wasn't
Without her, my life is grief and sorrow
So, on this day of candy and flowers
I'd give everything to be with her again
She's the one who made my life worthwhile
My confidante, my lover, my friend.
