Royal Bank of Canada use Action Direct; Toronto Dominian Bank use TD Waterhouse; Hongkong Bank of Canada use Invest Direct for customer to trade online. They are all charging commission fees as low as $29cdn per on-line trade.
For people who want to get involve in the stock market without hiring an investor to look after your money and pay high commission fees, the 1st step you need to do is open an investment account at the bank. Then, tell the bank you want to use discount trade, that is, trade through the phone or through online investment without investor's suggestion.
As a matter of fact, there are many other finacial(or investment) institutions provide on-line trade with supper low commission charge as low as $7us per transaction. However, I just trust those come with big banks.
I like Action Direct the most because it updates your porfolio after 0:00 everynight that Invest Direct won't update it until the next business date. Nevertheless, HK stock could not be placed online. That's why I also open an account with HK Bank (in case for myself to trade HK stock)
