Résumé

©Jeanie Trubiano 1999

Collet produces narrative work which
explores the absurdity of life with respect
to human relations and the sociological inequality
of the sexes. She toys with philosophies that perpetuate
stereotypes and produces puns inspired
from everyday language. Some works reflect feminist or
spiritual concerns, while others mirror glimpses of
observations, conversations or sensations. Ironic or
satirical humour is an important element in her work.
Her methods are raw, quick and gestural and she
uses primarily acrylics on canvas or plywood,
and mixed media on paper. Collet received
her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Montreal's
Concordia University in 1976. She has exhibited
across Canada and abroad since 1981.
