Scripture - update revelations
I will first of all give you the scriptures I will be dealing
with, then I will go into each of them and tell you why the
Lord showed me this scripture and why He had me include it.
Though I'll probably let the scripture speak for itself more
than anything else. Though I will reveal anything about a
scripture that God revealed to me.
and remember, in order to make the reading of these
scriptures effective you must not simply take them at face value,
you must apply them to different situations and meditate upon them.
"Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that
thy profiting may appear to all. (1 Timothy 4:15)"..
Joshua 24:14
1 Samuel 12:24
Psalm 15:2-5
1 John 2:4-6
Proverbs 12:26
"Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve Him in
sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your
fathers served...and serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:14)
Put away sin!! Turn back to God!! Leave behind the gods you've
been serving, come follow God!! I can assure you that life with
God is a LOT better than life without Him... And life close to
God is a LOT better than life far away. I know from experience.
Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your
heart; for consider what great things He has done for
you. (1 Samuel 12:24)
2. He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and
speaks the truth in his heart;
3. He who does not backbite with his tongue, nor does
evil to his neighbor, nor does he take up a reproach
against his friend;
4. In whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he honors
those who fear the LORD; he who swears to his own hurt
and does not change;
5. He who does not put out his money at usury, nor does
he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these
things shall never be moved. (Psalm 15:2-5)
This is the secret to life. If one listens to this advice
and follows it, one will find that life is much sweeter than
before. These are the qualities of a child of God should
possess.
4. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His
commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God
is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in
Him.
6. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to
walk just as He walked. (1 John 2:4-6)
This is a big problem in our country today and is one of my
greatest pet peaves. Hypocritical nature. Those who follow
God with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. Those
who say they believe one thing and then you see them contradict
that BLATANTLY during the week. Those that say they follow
Christ, but during the week, they're out their doing all the
same things that sinners do. Those are the people that scripture
refers to...
I believe that we, as Christians, need to live what we say
and say what we live. We need to live up to what we say, for
if we don't, the world will see us and the world will be turned
off to the gospel. And if we're contradicting ourselves, how
can we minister?? In order to be successful in ministry, and
in our lives as Christians we MUST put away all the hypocracies
and start living what we say.
The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for
the way of the wicked leads them astray. (Proverbs 12:26)
This is something you rarely hear about. Yet, I believe, it
is of a high importance in our daily walk. If we walk with
sinners, we will usually begin to adopt their sinful nature.
And if we walk with other believers we will be strengthened
in our faith.
However, this does not mean that we should avoid sinners.
On the contrary, Christ Himself often sat and dined with sinners.
So, we, therefore, should also spend time with sinners in order
to minister and reach them. But, time with sinners should not
be all the time we spend with other people. Christ Himself
left the sinners (and crowds) to spend time with the person
whom had the strength of knowledge that He did in order to
strengthen Himself. And, like Him, we should spend time with
others of equal spiritual strength in order to strengthen
each other.
