That David Copperfield Kind of Crap.

If you're really curious about me, here's a brief bio. A better way of knowing would be to visit my links page. Know me, know my friends.

I might as well start at the beginning. Folks used to call my family the Baader Bunch because there were so many of us. I don't think we were that big; we were a family of six-- almost small by Catholic standards. Bobby is the oldest, followed by Mary Kay, then me, then Brian , otherwise known as Little Woob. I grew up in and around the South Side of Chicago, something which always made my rabid Cub Fan status rather uncomfortable.

I spent every summer as a child at 4-H Camp Shaw-waw-nas-see, and when I reached the age where I was allowed to be on Staff, I grabbed the opportunity with both feet. My camp name was Simon, though it had mutated to Slimer by the time I left. If you live in the Northern Illinois area, send your kids there. I can't say enough good things about the opportunity.

I went to school at Illinois, though I have also attended Governors State University and am currently attending night school at the University of Wisconsin at Parkside. My long-term plans are to pursue an academic career in English. We'll have to see if anyone takes me.

Currently, I work in Advanced Farming Systems Support at Case Corporation. Some of my many talents include the ability to operate a combine and touch my tongue to my nose. I know. Amazing. I'm a volunteer at the Art Institute in Chicago, too. I'm one of those folks who sits at an information desk and answers questions.

I'm a J.D. Salinger fan. You'll find me posting messages on the Bananafish List more often than not. I tend to be the one finding connections where there are none. Other authors I particularly enjoy are F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Samuel Beckett, Lorrie Moore, Joseph Heller, and Graham Greene. The list, I'm sure, could go on, like to my Russians, Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky, or maybe my German friend Franz Kafka. And then there's Jane Austen and Virginia Woolf. I'm always reading something. I'm a particular lover of poetry too. Check out my poetry archive to see some of my very favorites.

Finally, and most importantly, I'm a writer. I don't have any real samples of my writing on this website as I don't want to worry about first e-publishing copyright issues, but I do tend to workshop my new stories on the American Zoetrope website. I use this all the time, because even though the reviewer of your story may not write in your genre, that reviewer usually gives you useful criticism.

And if you've managed to reach the bottom of this page, this is me. Honesty compels me to admit that there was once a big-headed man standing next to me in this picture. Gee, look at that. He's gone. Would that life were as easy as Photoshop.
