This Weeks Feature Poem Mother Filled with such hatred for no one but herself, Sorrow captured her and ate away her soul, Wanting no one to see what she had become, Running from the good into the arms of the bad, Her mother saw her daughter fading away, Trying to save her from what would soon come her way, But nothing she said, nothing she did could help, For it was not her decision, it was nothing she could control, As she drifted further and further away, Her mother tried to catch her, She stretched out her arms, opened up her heart, But her baby ran from the love she was too afraid to accept, Nothing her mother did could lessen the pain, The pain which was now consuming her, Turning her into someone her mother didn't know, Yet she stood by her daughter hoping she would soon come around, She became a victim of her own responses, A black hole, taking in anything with light, And putting out the madness she felt inside, Smashing all her mothers dreams, Slowly she awakened from the nightmare that seemed to never end, Regretting so deeply what she had done to those around her, She finally ran toward her mother, hoping her arms would still be open, And found herself embraced in an everlasting hug, She is alive today because her mother never gave up, She stood by her, and gave her strength and courage, She gives her love and strengthens her heart, And a place to go whenever she is feeling alone, For she knows one day that her daughter will fly, She will break free from her cocoon, spread her wings and soar, For she is a butterfly, and her mother, the earth, Which keeps her alive, and gives her the strength to survive.
