Once I Was A Cloth

      Once I was a cloth,
      a fabric of simplicity---
      handsome, pure, and dingy.

      I was not fashioned.
      a spool woven indulgently,
      combed fastidously.

Till you took me and said,
"I shall make a garment out of you.
Sterling and snug it will be.
And you shall be my masterpiece.
Supple and strong, you shall see!"

      An apparel I was created,
      prudently.

      To clothe the naked,
      lovingly.
