Chick and quail embryos ages 24-96 hours were fixed in Bouin's fixatives for at least 24 hours
and then stained with Ehrlich acid hematoxylin. The technique was based on Billett and Wild (1975).
The result showed purple-red colour. Embryos of later ages were fixed in ethyl acohol and
cartilage and bone were pale blue and dark red respectively and muscle was colourless.
