What's New
Last updated Sept. 1998

Welcome to the first update board of the Holdup webpage!  Here I will post the latest news and info, as well as links to what pages have been updated recently.  Most of this update consists of a lot of "sprucing up", since the original page was rushed to get it up in time for our first screening.
Holdup was entered in its first festival over the summer, the American Film Institute's Vision's of America.  Unfoutunately, Holdup did not receive an award.  Competition was tighter than ever this year, with over 700 entries - a complete list of the results can be found here.  Our sincere congratulations to all of the winners.

School is back in session, and that means that festival entries will start in full force, thanks to our crew members Sarah, Scott, and Becky, who have agreed to be in charge of entering Holdup for the next year.  Watch here for updates.

Our audio engineer, Brian, has updated his webpage, and it is more impressive than ever!  Visit it by clicking here.

Special note for cast and crew:  sign the guestbook!  Many of you have emailed me saying you enjoyed the page.  Tell the world, too!

Also for the crew - Now you're all in trouble!  Jen emailed me saying she has pictures of our wrap party, and as soon as I can, they will be up here!  Try explaining that to your parents!

Well, I guess I can't put it off much longer - it's going to be time for a new computer soon.  While that's bad news for my wallet, it will be good news for the site, since my new PC will definitely have video capture capability.  I will finally get the quicktimes up that I've been promising for so long.

A note to everyone who has a copy of Holdup:  It seems that a few people have experienced problems with the audio on their tapes.  Near as I can figure, if you don't have a Hi-Fi VCR, you won't be able to hear the audio on the tape.  I have played a copy in different VCR's and one VCR played audio and the other didn't, so trust me, the problem isn't in the tape.  I guess now you have an excuse to by that new VCR you've been wanting. . .

Well, it's official - I am a college graduate.  The school sent me a letter to expect my diploma in 4-6 weeks.  I am also working full time at a new job, and have updated my profile - if you really can't wait to read about me, click here.  Other cast and crew profiles that have been updated:  Dave R., Eric, Jen, Steve, Jeff S., Matt, and myself.

A lot of you may have been getting email from "John Doe" these past few months - well, that was a Hotmail account I set up for the summer since i didn't know how long I would be away from Internet access.  I now have a new permanent ISP, AOL (that's America Online or Army of Losers, depending on who you ask).  You can email me here.  If I'm already in you address book and you're to lazy to change it, the Hotmail account is still active and I check it often.

The Independent Screenwriters, Producers, and Directors Webring is growing larger all the time.  Visit them here.

If you are interested in the latest project I am involved in, check out www.co.production.  under the guidance of award winning filmmaker Costas Ferris, a group of us from around the world are attempting to create the first film produced entirely through the Internet.

I have added a few new destinations to the links page.  Since my tastes tend to be a little eclectic, let me know what you think.

Finally, everyone feel free to email me, with your opinions, thoughts, suggestions, rants, flames, introspections, announcements, etc., etc., etc.

Keep in touch,

Paul C. Roethele
