Crop Circles

I find crop circles fascinating. Their intricate designs are just mind-blowing.

In August I came across this neat looking crop circle. I found it at the Crop Circle Connector . The circle showed up in a farmer's wheat field in Martinsell Hill, near Clench Common, Wiltshire, England on August 8, 2000.

As I was so drawn to this particular design I decided to play around with it. First I went to the Graph Paper Printer 5 program that I got from Zdnet.com. It is a freeware program that prints all kinds of graphs. And drew the design on paper.

Now, of course, I had to play around with the design in my graphics program and this is what I ended up with after using stained glass samples from Spectrum Glass as textures.

The next step in my crop circle exploration got me to print out the black and white design on cardboard and make a stencil.

Then I traced the stencil the front of a 5 1/4 inch floppy disk and used fabric paint to color it.

Now that lead to my next creation. I discovered a site with a tutorial for human proportions I was especially attracted to drawing a face.

This is my first attempt at drawing a face and I am quite pleased with the result. Again I used fabric paints as medium. The crop circle stencil came in handy for the background in the painting.
