Saturday, September 13, 1997 -- A quiet day around the homestead |

There is almost nothing so refreshing as a Saturday when you don't do anything. |
Last night Azura and I rented 4 movies from Hollywood Video. While we were there, we
discussed the game machines, and talked about getting one for ourselves. This is one of
those things we discuss periodically, only now I think we're going to do it. I've played the olde Nintendo, and Sega Genesis, but the last console game I bought was an Atari 400. So what I want to know is, of the new 64-bit games, which is the best? Ok, maybe that is flame bait. I like to play Role-Playing Games (I saw a Mario RPG once, but it wasn't what I call a role-playing game. I also like 3-d shooters, and the (very) occasional platform game. I could care less about sports games. So tell me, which of those systems has the best games in that arena? We watched The Craft last night, which was an interesting movie, at the least. I'm glad I didn't pay to go see it at the theater, but it wasn't terrible. I liked the Witches of Eastwick reference. I still haven't seen Eastwick all the way through, but hey, I read the book. Today we vegged in front of the TV watching another great classic film...RoboCop. No, we didn't rent it...Fox was showing it. One good thing about it though, Eraser looked pretty good next to it. For a Schwarzenegger film, Eraser wasn't bad. It wasn't True Lies, but then it wasn't Running Man either. [The only reason I remotely like Running Man is because Messiah stole the "It's time to start running" sound byte for their Techno song the "Land of Dreams"] At one point in the movie, I walked into he kitchen, telling Azura, "Too bad that guy's gonna betray Arnold." As I walked back the betrayal happened. The whole movie was like that. If the Arnold's patented one-liners had been better, I might have cared less... Well we still have A Clockwork Orange and Army of Darkness to see (the sci-fi section was next to Cult Classics...), neither of which I've seen. We're gaming with Moose and Squirrel tomorrow. Hopefully everyone else will show up, and I'll get to play Mage for the first time. I'll let you know how it goes... Generic Joe's A Typical Male | ||
