Statement :
It was not until June 1996, that I began to develop
my current means of expression which combines digital art and decoupage.
I draw pictures using Adobe Photoshop supplemented by extra filters and
using fractal generation programs and a fractal landscape generating program
off the internet. Most of my images use fractals in some way. They cover
a wide range of alien, fantastic or mythical beings and landscapes which,
now that I can no longer travel physically, enables me to pursue the interest
I have always had in travelling and exploring different places. This has
certainly changed my own life greatly in that I enjoy it so much and it
has encouraged me to try new means of expression.
I have recently begun to use these images to decoupage
the surfaces of eggs which I make from plaster, using the shells of chicken,
duck, goose, peacock, and any other type of egg I can get hold of as moulds.
I also use easter egg moulds and polystyrene eggs but prefer real egg shapes.
I finish the eggs off with up to 100 layers of varnish and, after sanding,
with beeswax.
I am currently also working on decoupage paintings.
I have started to do papier mache sculpture at the Canberra School of Art
as a means of broadening my artistic activities.
