EYELET AND LACE

Vision through eyelet and lace
Has allowed me to see many things
Like the birds gathering food off the ground
Paying little attention to the rain coming down

Through eyelet and lace
I have seen snow in winter and fall
Rainstorms, sleet, hale, and blizzards too
I must say I have seen it all

Through eyelet and lace
I have seen sunrise at dawn
On a quiet and lazy Sunday morn
I have seen flowers covered with evening dew
With colors of springtime shinning through

Through eyelet and lace
I have seen summertime in June
Families and lovers
Taking walks on a sunny afternoon

Through eyelet and lace
I have seen the flickering of street lights
Shinning through my window
On a hot and restless night

Through eyelet and lace
I have seen visions of the world
In all sizes, shapes and colors
And there are some facets of life
More profound than others
But there is one place where I can feel safe
And that is behind the draperies of eyelet and lace
