Just The Two Of Us

Like a thief in the night
They stole glances across a smoke filled room
Which was next door to a barbershop
In a back street saloon
On a mission to fight crime
Their fate intertwined
They were swept up in a hypnotic trance
With the blink of an eye, she stepped aside
And slowly walked across the dusty floor
She ordered a drink of wine for two
Seated herself at the bar and waited for her first clue
When her subject arrived, she offered him a drink
The one with the mickey finn inside
Caught up in the moment, she took a drink too
Then what to her surprise
Her spy in crime she thought she knew
Was on the opposite side
Dropping her glass as she fell to the floor
She watched as they tip their hats to the bartender
And strolled hand in hand out the back door.
