The Crain Katana Click image to go Back I forged this Blade in early 1997. The Blade itself is forged from A-2 tool steel, Which is a Super High Quality Air hardening Tool steel . Although it lacks the traditional Hamon (temperline) and Hada (woodlike grain), It's shear Strength is truely Incredible! This Blade can flex 70 to 80 degrees and return to true! this is far beyond battle conditions. The Furniture has many extras (bells and whistles). The Tsuka (hilt) has a gold colored Tsuka-ito (Silk wrap) over antiqued Same (Rayskin), Bi-colored Cast iron fittings with the Crain theme, 24 Karat Gold plated Shitodome (Eyelets in the Kashira or Pommell), Sterling Silver Menuki (hilt ornaments) and a two peice bronze Habaki (collar).
