Bring On Da' Light...Bring On Da' Noise

Much more pleasing to the ear than "Hey Woman", "Bring On Da' Light...Bring On Da' Noise" was the culmination of years of desire.

Hearts beat, and brains fry..... With "Bring" I hope to capture tension created from a completely artificial environment. Narration is provided by "acquired" clips from a television show. Most of the other sounds were created by either analogue or digital means. At the onset, a "dry", ambient landscape forms. Which progresses onto the more dramatic elements of the song. Often times, sounds were given human characteristics to carry the feeling across. The narrative elements simplify the association for the listener. Lets face it, if you don't throw a bone every now and then, no one will get it.

Once the ball gets rolling, humanic sounds really take over the piece. I tried not to be too cliche', but sounds do represent autonomic human functions: pulse, neurology, etc.. However, the focus on neurology, I feel, keeps the song from falling down the old academic pitfall. The inevitable decay of the humanic functions lead to short phrases, a break-down if you will. Not only conceptually, but musically as well. Following the good ol' 4/4 pop convention. Once the point has fully come across, we re-visit the same "dry" landscape. However, it is a bit altered. A final narrative element closes, preserving the air of "mystery", and making it all make sense. I hope.

On a personal side, I'm happy with the piece. I enjoy listening to it, and even my Mother likes it. I'm still not sure if that is good or bad. Have fun.
