A Slight re-telling of Chang Cheh's "The Pirate"

by Tauna

====
The Pirate Shang Pao stood on the bow and watched the English ship sink.
The gold he had taken was safely in the hold of his own craft and they
would make their way to Macao shortly to stash it. He made his way below
to talk with his men about their latest success.
======
"Captain! Captain!" He heard the cry and rushed into the hold.
"There's a breach from the English cannon! We can't repair it very
well." His First mate, Ma, panted.
They rushed in and were bowled over by the force of the water coming in.
It took a dozen or so men to put the plank in place to fill the gap.
Shang Pao knew they'd have to go in for repairs but here was not the
place he wanted to do it.
=======
Shang Pao looked at the familiar inlet. He thought back two years to the
last time he was here. The Local crime boss was a woman, a Miss Chi. He
had tried to cut a deal with her but it was a bit more than money that
she had wanted...

"Come along Shang Pao, we're both adults," she crooned, dragging a
finger across his cheek.
His lips grew thin and he stepped out of her reach. Miss Chi was not
pleased.
=======
Shang Pao and Ma slipped ashore. They made it to his ally, Pa Sing's
under cover of darkness and apparently without being seen. While there,
he learned that Fatty had been taken prisoner, along with his vessel and
that Miss Chi had put a contract out on him. She had gotten the bounty
hunter Chiang Da Wei to hunt him down. Shang Pao had heard of him but
that was all. Since Fatty's ship had been captured, it was not damaged.
Shang Pao decided to return the next day and see if he could buy it.
======
The next morning, Shang Pao's men milled about on deck, talking about
their share of the treasure and what they were going to do with it.
Several talked of the brothel and the gambling dens.
"Hey there, no shore leave this time..." Shang Pao said, "It's not safe
here. No one leaves this time."
He waved his hand in dismissal at the whines and protestations. Shang
Pao went below. His crew's eyes followed him. Two in particular grumbled
heavily.
"Hey, he'll never know we've gone...My uncle runs the gambling den here.
Lets slip out and have some fun."
They nodded their heads and made themselves invisible. A few moments
later, Shang Pao emerged from below decks. He was clad in elegant, white
silk.
"Ma and I must go into town to take care of some business. We'll be back
very soon."
"Wah, the Captain looks like a Mandarin!" cried out one crew member.
"So handsome, eh?" cried another, "What business is that, Captain?"
Shang Pao shook his head and smiled. He jumped into the small boat and
they sailed off for shore.
======
Shang Pao and Ma posed as businessmen from Macao and paid a visit to
Miss Chi's Steward, Si Yang. He began negotiations to buy the ship. He
let Ma do the talking so that his voice wouldn't carry through the
house. Things went rather quickly and in no time Ma and Shang Pao were
on their way back to the ship. When they reached the beach, he saw some
of his men there. He rushed up and they reported on what happened. Shang
Pao swore heavily and headed back to town to collect the awol men.
=======
No sooner was he gone than the 4 of them were on shore. They spent
foreign gold and caused trouble. In the gambling den, the gold coins
caused attention.
======
As Shang Pao came up the stairs of the gambling den, he felt a pair of
eyes on him. Tall, elegant and dressed in white, he was quite different
than the other patrons in the building. He scanned the occupants of the
landing. He did not see any of his wayward men here, but he mixed into
the crowd to check. His long delicate fingers twiddled nervously with
two steel balls, flipping them quickly around his palm.

At the SicBo table Da Wei saw Shang Pao as he arrived. Without looking
at the picture, he knew this was the man he had been sent to capture. He
flipped his fan shut and rose. He walked over to the stairs, stopping a
stranger he knew to be one of Shang Pao's men and with one swift hand
movement sent the man onto the table with a large crash.

"I'm looking for Shang Pao!" he hollered, looking to see if the tall
young man would take the bait.
Indeed Shang Pao looked at him, eyes growing large then narrowing into
caution. Da Wei let his eyes examine Shang Pao with a smoldering
intensity that sent an unaccustomed shiver down the pirate's spine.
Shang Pao flipped his long queue behind him. Da Wei smiled and snapped
his fan open, fanning himself leisurely, eyes raking over Shang Pao's
taut, well muscled form. Shang Pao paused at the top of the steps. Their
eyes met. A rather predatory smile crossed Da Wei's lips. They walked
towards each other, slowly.

'He looks like that bounty hunter,' mused Shang Pao 'I'd better keep
sharp.'

Da Wei stared at him like a shark ready to feed. Shang Pao did not like
the odds nor did he like the way he was being looked at. He did not drop
Da Wei's gaze, but glided towards the steps. The bouncers arrived and
engaged Da Wei. Shang Pao made for the exit, but he still felt the
small man's eyes burning into his back.

Da Wei's kung fu was superior, he cut through the bouncers like a hot
knife. They slowed him enough that he couldn't get his hands on Shang
Pao. He ran through the milling patrons and down the steps to the front
door. He saw the tall pirate at the end of the street looking back with
a strange expression on his face. Da Wei knew that look and smiled.

Shang Pao was impressed. 'That small guy is pretty good,' he mused, a
quick smile flashed across his lips. Again their eyes locked. Shang Pao
called for his men to leave. He saw the bouncers engage Da Wei and the
annoyance spread over his face. Shang Pao smiled and turned on his heel.

============
As they made their way back to his ship, Shang Pao rolled over in his
mind what had just happened. 'It must be her,' he thought, 'She's never
forgiven me for refusing her. She must've hired this guy to get me. He's
good though, I'll have to be careful.'
==============
As if to add insult to injury, Shang Pao found that his rival, Fatty,
had escaped from the local police and taken over his ship. He had off
loaded Shang Pao's latest haul to Miss Chi's place. Shang Pao stood on
the beach with his remaining men and mulled over possible ways to get
his money and ship back. A smile crossed his face and his fist slapped
into his palm.
===========
It would be difficult to avoid Miss Chi, but If he played it right, he
could get her gold out. They made their entrance at Miss Chi's,
demanding to see Si Yang. A sliver of panic shot through Shang Pao, for
only a second, until he realized that the guards were there to protect
him, not capture him. He walked with Si Yang onto the porch. At that
moment, Da Wei burst through the gate. He looked around quickly and
spotted Shang Pao. He grinned and snapped his fan open. Again, their
eyes locked. He sashayed towards Shang Pao, never dropping his gaze. The
house guards swarmed over him. He cut through them with little effort.
Shang Pao realized he was fascinated by Da Wei's movements, but he took
advantage of the situation and began to back out.

All the commotion brought Miss Chi out. She scanned the scene and caught
Shang Pao out of the corner of her eye. She called out for the guards to
get him, but they mistook who she was screaming towards. Even more
guards swarmed towards Da Wei.

Shang Pao slipped out. Miss Chi managed to get several guards to go with
her after him. They followed close on his heels, but he remained two
steps ahead. Shang Pao saw his chance. He sent his men around the corner
and he made sure Chi saw him. They ran after him but were jumped. Strong
hands and years of practice made swift work of the lesser of Miss Chi's
guards. Ma caught Chi herself. They tied her up with their belts,
dragged her towards her store room and started loading up the gold.
======
Shang Pao and his men were slowed by the weight of the gold. They had
almost gotten the boat out into the open sea when Miss Chi, Si Yang and
several guards caught up with them. Shang Pao quickly wrapped up the
gold in his coat and attached it to the anchor of the small craft. They
prepared to meet their pursuers.
====
They fought until no one but Shang Pao stood alive. He stood in the
waves and saw no one moving. He waded out and retrieved the gold. He
looked around again and made his way to the shipyard. He couldn't think
of anything else to do.
======
Shang Pao walked through the gate to see the shipwright and the
townspeople all staring at him. He handed over the gold. The Shipwright
smiled and said that his friend had said he would be there shortly.
Shang Pao looked confused. The Shipwright smiled and said "here he is
now."

Da Wei eyed Shang Pao again. He saw Shang Pao hesitate, his delicate
lips rounding into a small 'o' when he realized who his "friend" was.

Shang Pao moved to escape, but somehow not quickly enough. A small
square hand captured his wrist and something like sparks shot through
Shang Pao's body. They simply stared at one another for several moments,
while Shang Pao's brain whirled.

"Come with me... now" barked Da Wei, dragging him by wrist and belt.
Shang Pao simply followed, not really knowing why.

They moved towards the back of the shipyard.
"Where?!?"
He did not finish. He found himself neatly tossed through a door and not
actually resisting. He scanned the room quickly, a frown creasing his
brow. This looked to be a work room of some sort. This was definitely
not going where Shang Pao expected.

Da Wei watched him frown. He looked like a petulant child about to throw
a tantrum. He laughed at the pirate and carefully closed the door.
"So, You must be wondering what you are doing here," Shang Pao's eyes
narrowed and his lips grew thin. "But somehow I think you do know..."

"I don't know what you are talking about."snapped Shang Pao. "Did That
bitch Chi put you up to this?"

Da Wei's dimples showed again.
"Yes she did. That money Fatty took from you has only appeased her a
little. She offered me quite a bit to see you captured... So, are you
going to offer me something better?" he laughed.
He watched Shang Pao think for a moment and the uncertainty flash
through his expression. He took that moment to move closer to the pirate
and then swiftly lunge.

Shang Pao's reflexes were lightning. They fought for a few moments,
their skills were well matched. Shang Pao from years of fighting on the
sea and Da Wei from years of tracking criminals. Da Wei then caught
Shang Pao in a very particular throw hold and pinned him to the floor.
His one arm was caught underneath, while Da Wei held the other on the
floor above his head. Da Wei lay the length of him, shifting with him to
keep him from getting free. His slight form should not have been enough
to keep him pinned, but again Shang Pao found himself hesitating. Da
Wei's finger traced the line of his jaw and his skin tingled. He was not
one for the physical pleasures but as he lay under Da Wei, his skin
burned everywhere they touched.

"Now do you understand what I want...,"Da Wei said, his voice pitched
low.
He watched the feelings wash across Shang Pao's face. He was not quite
sure which emotion won.

Shang Pao's breathing changed. It grew shallower and more rapid. Even
though Da Wei was small, Shang Pao could not get the leverage to move
him. His shoulder was screaming from the pressure and he could not move.
He suddenly felt Da Wei's hand burrow into his hair. His small fingers
grasped tightly and yanked. With one deft motion, Shang Pao found
himself on his stomach, Da Wei sitting across the small of his back. Da
Wei's hands were wound in his hair, pulling his head back to an
agonizing angle. His lips pulled on Shang Pao's ear. Shang Pao was quite
tall and with his head thrown back, his long neck was left exposed. Da
Wei's tongue traced the length of it. His teeth carved bruises along its
soft curve.

Now that his shoulder was free, Shang Pao used all of his tricks to
dislodge Da Wei. He found himself enjoying this, but his men and escape
were still foremost on his mind. They wrestled again for several
minutes. Da Wei maneuvered him carefully in one direction. He quickly
swept towards Shang Pao's leg. When he rolled away, Da Wei reached
behind some sacks on the floor and slid out wrist irons. Using the
element of surprise and with a rather practiced ease, he clipped Shang
Pao's wrists. At that moment, Shang Pao stopped his struggles and looked
at Da Wei, his lips quivered slightly. For the first time, fear showed
in his eyes.

Da Wei smiled broadly. His hands slid down Shang Pao's wiry arms and
held his face gently, tilting his chin upwards. He lowered his head
slowly, looking deeply into Shang Pao's eyes. Their lips were very
close. Shang Pao tried to bite him but, Da Wei only laughed a bit, then
kissed Shang Pao's eyes, the tip of his nose and the point of his chin.
He again savaged Shang Pao's long neck, alternately kissing and biting
him. Shang Pao squirmed underneath him, but the effect was only to make
Da Wei's eyes shine more brightly.

His lips brushed Shang Pao's ear. His hands toyed with the buttons on
Shang Pao's clothes feeling the smooth muscles under the silk. Beautiful
muscles, sculpted from spending most of his 25 years on the sea.

"If you cooperate, I may be able to help you out ..."

Shang Pao's cold stare answered him.

Da Wei smiled. If that was how he wanted it. He moved to catch Shang
Pao's foot and was kicked square in the head. They tangled again. The
smile grew on Da Wei's face as they wrestled. Shang Pao was hampered by
the loss of his hands. The irons were spiked into the floor and Shang
Pao almost cracked his wrists with a swing at him. After a time Da Wei
got between Shang Pao's legs and caught him around the hips, lifting him
in the air. Shang Pao squirmed. His arms were stretched tight and he was
woefully off balance. He tightened his butt and shifted his hips to try
and regain some balance. He felt Da Wei's hands move to hold him up.
Those hands squeezed his butt, enjoying the firmness. Da Wei giggled and
his teeth pulled at Shang Pao's trousers.

"WAI!" cried Shang Pao.

He found himself in the air, knees over the smaller man's shoulders. Da
Wei's teeth buried themselves into his thigh. "aiya!" It did not so much
hurt as...

In a flash, Da Wei flipped him over again. Shang Pao found himself
draped over Da Wei's lap, butt in the air and nose in the dirt. He
looked back over his shoulder in time to see Da Wei's fan coming down
hard.

Thwack!

"aaaahhhh!"shouted Shang Pao.

The fan came down two more times in quick succession. Shang Pao's feet
flew in an attempt to get out of Da Wei's lap. He avoided Shang Pao's
feet with the ease of some one used to doing so. Da Wei kept him
stretched out and off balance. Thwack! Thwack! Again and again the fan
dropped.

Da Wei felt the heat rising from Shang Pao's skin. He thoroughly enjoyed
the squirming bundle in his lap. He let the fan drop again, feeling
Shang Pao's muscles jump in slight anticipation of the actual impact. Da
Wei ran his hand lightly over Shang Pao's buzzing bottom. He watched
the excitement begin to dawn in Shang Pao's face. His nostrils flared
slightly, his teeth caught his lower lip and his eyes squeezed shut. He
watched the color come up on his cheeks. Da Wei's hand reached down to
touch one of those red cheeks.

Shang Pao suddenly grabbed one of his fingers with his mouth. He sucked
it in to the top knuckle, slowly. He ran his tongue around like he was
eating candy, then let it slowly pop out. His eyes opened slightly and
Da Wei saw the desire in them. Da Wei gave him another finger, he spent
a bit more time with it before using his tongue to push it out. This
time it was Da Wei who eyes narrowed. Shang Pao ran his lips over Da
Wei's palm. Little sparkles danced up Da Wei's arm.

Da Wei smiled and stroked the loose hair from Shang Pao's face. His
thumb popped the spring on the cuff. Shang Pao's hand reached for him.
Da Wei caught it and kissed his palm.

"Let's go..." He popped the other spring and pulled him up.

Shang Pao's jaw was still slack as Da Wei dragged him out the door.
=====
They faced each other on the beach. Shang Pao looked carefully about to
see if Da Wei's men were there or not.

"I told you they're not here." He said. "But they will be in a bit,
shall we put on a good show for them?"
"So, after all this, you're still going to hand me over?" pouted Shang
Pao, "I thought..."

Da Wei laughed. He walked over to Shang Pao and put his hand lightly on
his hip.

"If I did that, how could I have you to myself?" He squeezed Shang Pao
gently. " I know Chi is dead and that I'm not getting any money out of
her, but I do have a reputation to maintain..." Shang Pao's eyes dropped
a bit and an embarrassed smile grew on his face. "Besides we must put on
a little show for them to give your ship time to get launched."

Shang Pao smiled crookedly, "OK, lets get started." He lunged right at
Da Wei.
====
They fought in the sand for quite some time. They wrestled and circled
one another for what seemed like hours. Da Wei looked at the sun and
estimated the time. Not just yet...

They splashed in the waves. Da Wei liked to see him in wet silk, it was
inspiring. Suddenly someone popped up behind Shang Pao. Without thinking
Da Wei shoved him aside and attacked the stranger. Shang Pao looked on
in amazement as Da Wei killed Fatty with his own knife. He was swift and
efficient.

"Well," said Da Wei, "Who was that?"
"My Enemy," He said, "The rest of my men must have thrown him off the
ship!" A smile glowed on his face. "I have to get back to them."
"We're still not quite done here..." Da Wei lunged at Shang Pao.
=====
'The ship should be in place now.' mused Da Wei.

It was time to let Shang Pao go. He motioned for them to stop. Shang Pao
stopped short and looked at him. Da Wei whispered something to him and
waved him off. He smiled a bit to himself and headed back to his men. He
needed to get them squared away before he went to where he had agreed to
meet up with Shang Pao...
=====
Shang Pao stood on the deck of Fatty's old ship. It was anchored in a
secluded spot, and had a clear view all around. The yard had done an
excellent job refurbishing it, but he didn't actually notice that. He
paced up and down the deck looking for Da Wei.

"Yow!" a sharp slap on the behind made him whirl around to a dripping
wet Da Wei. Shang Pao scooped him up and tossed him in the air, catching
him and holding him close. The predatory smile returned to Da Wei's
lips. He flicked his wet braid behind him. They stood for a moment, wet
silk on warm flesh.

"You're wet..."said Shang Pao, his hands ran lightly down Da Wei's back.

Da Wei turned on his heel, still smiling and took one of Shang Pao's
hands. "So I am", he grinned "Why don't you help me get out of these wet
things?" He drew Shang Pao after him towards the below decks.

Once inside the Captain's quarters, it was plain that Da Wei had given
the shipwright extra orders and that they had been followed to the
letter. Shang Pao was used to sleeping among his men, here a bed had
been installed. It was thick with feathers and quilts. He looked at it
with big eyes. This was not merely a place to keep charts and
treasure...

"The towels are over there" he pointed at a chest with his elbow, while
wringing some of the water from his hair. Shang Pao flipped the lid and
took one. It was very soft. "They're from a far place, I believe its
called egypt..."

Shang Pao unfurled it, a slight scent drifted to his nostrils. He stood
next to the dripping Da Wei and carefully took a corner and delicately
blotted his face. Da Wei took both of Shang Pao's hands in his. "Let's
get me out of these clothes first, eh?" Shang Pao licked his lips a
little nervously. His long, strong fingers easily popped open the
swollen cloth buttons. The sea soaked shirt dropped to the floor with a
plop. His hands hovered near Da Wei's trousers but he pulled them back.
Da Wei smiled at him indulgently and dropped them himself. The towel was
quickly wrapped around him. It was so big it enveloped him completely.
Shang Pao knelt in front of him, rubbing him vigorously from head to
foot. He picked up Da Wei and deposited him on the edge of the bed. He
knelt down and took the bottom corner of the towel and started to dry
his feet. Shang Pao's hands enveloped them, they were small and
delicate. His lips found their way to the arch. He bit his ankle, just a
little. His lips ran over the top of his foot and he took his little toe
in his mouth. He ran his tongue around it and sucked on it lightly. He
did the same for each toe in turn. Da Wei giggled and wiggled his toes,
Shang Pao's tongue tickled.

Da Wei reached down and took Shang Pao's chin in his hand. The towel
fell off his shoulders. Shang Pao reached up and traced the muscles in
his chest. He was shocked at how spare Da Wei was built. Although it
looked like there was nothing to him, Shang Pao knew how powerful he
was. His hand moved to touch Da Wei's face. This time it was Da Wei who
took Shang Pao's fingers in his mouth. He inhaled each finger, almost as
if he were trying to swallow them. He bit his way up Shang Pao's hand.
He chewed lightly on his wrist. He sucked his thumb in and out. A small
sound escaped from Shang Pao's throat. Da Wei left small bruises up the
inside of Shang Pao's arm, from his wrist to his elbow. Shang Pao was
shivering, his other hand wound tightly in the bedclothes.

Da Wei grabbed both Shang Pao's wrists and roughly pulled him up onto
the bed. Their arms wound around one another, their lips met, and this
time Shang Pao returned the kiss, with fire. Their tongues played back
and forth. Da Wei's hands wandered over Shang Pao's muscular back. He
enjoyed the feel of the silk on his bare skin. Their lips finally
parted. They looked into each other's eyes for several moments. Shang
Pao's lips parted as if he were about to say something. Da Wei touched
one small finger to his lips to stop him. His fingertips ran lightly
over Shang Pao's face. Shang Pao bit his lip and blushed.

"Now lets get you out of those clothes, shall we?" A chuckle rumbled in
his throat. He pulled Shang Pao's feet out from under him and Shang Pao
fell backwards, laughing. Da Wei ran the tip of his queue around a
delicate cheekbone and over the lips he had just kissed, tickling him
further. Shang Pao closed his eyes and laughed, just let himself feel
what was happening.

Da Wei lowered his head to nuzzle Shang Pao's neck. His hair smelt of
salt water. He moved down to the collar of Shang Pao's shirt. His supple
tongue and small teeth lifted the cloth loops over each button with
expert ease. He jerked the fine cloth away with barely restrained
violence. He pulled Shang Pao up and roughly yanked the shirt from him,
tossing it aside. He ran his hands over Shang Pao's shoulders. He
noticed that Shang Pao had tatoos. One finger traced the outline of a
swallow. It then moved up to the trail of bruises that already were
showing on Shang Pao's neck. Da Wei regarded his handiwork and proceeded
to fill in the spots he had missed. Shang Pao wrapped his long arms and
legs around Da Wei, clutching him. His fingers wound into Da Wei's hair,
his breathing becoming ragged.

Da Wei ran his lips over the bronzed skin of Shang Pao's chest, tasting
him. He tasted slightly salty, like the sea. His tongue played with the
pirate's small nipples, teasing them erect. Shang Pao flushed. Da Wei
eased him back down, his hands sliding along his sides. He traced the
outline of the muscles in Shang Pao's abdomen. He then left a trail of
bruises along the same path. Everywhere Da Wei touched him, Shang Pao's
flesh quivered. A single fingernail traced a line from the center of his
collarbone to just below his navel. Shang Pao bit his lip. His body
arched to meet each caress.

He felt his trousers being yanked away. This had now gone farther than
Shang Pao was prepared for. He had a moment of panic. He tried half
heartedly to get away but Da Wei trapped both thighs and leaned in hard.
Shang Pao found himself, again with his knees near Da Wei's ears. Da
Wei's teeth raked over his thighs, stopping momentarily to bite lightly.
His hands held Shang Pao tight. Their eyes locked again and Shang Pao
knew surrender.

A slippery tongue teased him. He was already quite stiff. Finally soft
lips surrounded him and began to move ever so slowly. He abandoned
himself totally to the quick flicks of Da Wei's tongue and his own
body's rippling response to them. He lay almost motionless, completely
in Da Wei's power.

Da Wei ate him as if he were sugar cane. His shoulders pushed against
the back of Shang Pao's thighs, sliding him until his head bumped the
headboard. His hands held the tops of Shang Pao's thighs very gently,
fingers sliding across the taught muscles in rhythm with the slow
bobbing of his head. As Shang Pao's hips began to move with him, Da Wei
sped up. He rolled his tongue around Shang Pao's erection. He sucked in
his cheeks and nearly caused Shang Pao to jump out of his skin.

"Stop...please..."gasped Shang Pao, "Its too..." But Da Wei was having
none of that. His head stopped bobbing and he simply sucked in and
pushed out in a quick rhythm. He felt every muscle in Shang Pao's body
begin to tense and move with him. He went just a little faster.

Shang Pao came hard. He had no breath to cry out. The ripple from his
stomach to hips caused him to sit straight up. He dropped back to the
bed in a heap, gulping for air. Never before had anything felt like
that. It had felt so good, it almost hurt.

Da Wei licked his lips dry and grinned. He sat back on his heels and
looked at Shang Pao. Even in disarray he was beautiful. He wanted to
possess him completely. He slid back up the trembling length of him,
slowly with the intent to keep Shang Pao trembling.

"You belong to me now." whispered Da Wei.
"I know..."
