Milan...city of high fashion and the first booming metropolis I saw abroad. I hopped on the train for a quick day trip to see da Vinci's Last Supper and the Cathedral, which is the third largest in the world. I loved the cathedral. It was big, but it had a beutiful lacy look. I also visited the Castello Sforzesco, a great castle with a moat and everything, that lies near the heart of the city. The castle has been made into an antropological museum, but it houses the Pieta Rondinella, by Michelangelo. I also stopped at the Pinacoteca di Brera to see Andrea Mantegna's Dead Christ-the quintessential example of early perspective studies, through foreshortening. The train station of Milan. |
