My first day in Rome included a tour of the city with my schoolgroup. We saw some of the great churches, piazzas and fountains that are scattered throughout the city and we were treated to a very nice hotel that was close to everything.

The Trevi Fountain.

The Pantheon.

Day 2: We got a wonderful tour of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, the Excavation Site under St. Peter's Basilica, and the Cathedral of St. Peters itself. The Sistine Chapel was fabulous! I accidentally took a bunch of pictures, but if they come out, it'll be pretty cool. The excavations under the Basilica have been going on since the 1930's and in the seventies they found the bones of what they actually believe to be Saint Peter!

Staircase entering the Vatican Museums - From a book

The dome of St. Peter's: view from the terrace entering the Vatican Museums.

The best picture I have of the Sistine Ceiling...it was the most incredible thing I've ever seen.

This is off the cover of a book, but it's a great picture of the Basilica.

This is what it looked like the day I was there...under tons of scaffolding! :(

View from the inside of the collonnade.

This is from a book, but it's the only way I could include a picture of the inside of the cathedral on this site.
