My friends and I were really excited to be going to see *NSYNC in concert,
but even more excited because Jordan Knight was opening for them! On the day of the
concert, this radio station was hosting a putt putt event where some of the artists were
coming to give interviews before the concert. And guess who was one of those artists? Why,
Jordan of course! The radio station was going to be at the golf course from 10-3, so we
got there right at 10. Of course, it turned out that Jordan wasn't going to be there until
around 1:30 or 2, so we just sorta hung out and played a round of putt putt. We got to
meet some other artists though, such as INOJ and Michael Africk. Around 1pm it got really
hot, so my friend and I went to go sit in his car (with air conditioning!). We just
listened to the radio, waiting for Jordan. When it got to be 2pm and he still wasn't
there, my friend wanted to leave, but I made him wait since I really, really wanted to
meet Jordan. Finally, at 2:30, he came. Our car was parked right at the entrance to the
golf course, and we saw this guy from the radio station run out into the street and jump
into the brown Jeep Cherokee. We knew something was up, so we got out of the car. About 2
minutes later, the jeep pulled in, and guess who was sitting in the back seat? Jordan! I
was right there, only a few feet away from the car and he waved at me! Of course at this
point, everyone knew it was his car, so all these girls started chasing the jeep. It was
so crazy! They immediately led Jordan to the booth where the DJs were, and he gave a short
interview. They even let some of the fans ask him questions, but I wasn't close enough.
After the interview, I hoped he would stay and give autographs like the other artists had
done, but it was too late at that point. So once again, everyone swarmed after him as he
was going to his car. I couldn't get an autograph, but I managed to get a really good
picture of him, from only a few feet away.
The concert that night was so great! The other
opening acts were good, but once they unrolled the giant backdrop of Jordan's face, the
crowd went crazy! He sang his single's "Give It To You" and "I Could Never
Take the Place of Your Man", plus some other's off his CD. He mentioned the fact that
he hadn't been to Detroit since the New Kids days, and he was really excited to be back.
There were these two guys sitting across the aisle from us who were standing up and
dancing to "Give It To You", and they were actually really good! It was so
funny! When Jordan finished, you could tell that the crowd had really enjoyed him, and
practically all the seats were full. I can't wait for him to come back!
