Embrace the Night

(c) 1996 by Stephen Homan and Universal Compositions

I'm about to cross days again
Yes, once again it approaches midnight
And I am awake
Many a time have I seen the rise
Of a new sun
Just to close my eyes
Before it reaches its full light
Does it make sence to live in a time
When everyone else sleeps?
I think so
Maybe I'm right and they are wrong
I know that there are others
Just like me
Have the day walkers ever tried the night
Why do they avoid her sweet caress?
The sun kills!
Yet still
Time and again it is lovingly embraced
By the worshippers of sand
They want their bodies to be
The same color as the beaches they wallow on
If you want your body to be like clay
Do it the quick and easy way
Kill yourself and go back to the dust you came from
Though you may think that you look good now
All that I can see
Is the youth that is stolen by a ball of hydrogen
Burning in the day sky
Me, I embrace the night
And stay young forever.
