Comparison of America's Social Classes

Ever since the Industrial Revolution exploded in America, people have been divided into social classes that are mainly based on their income. Two popular social classes, the upper class and the lower class, have very different lifestyles, yet they also have a few, small similarities as well. The two groups are usually separated as to where they live in the cities or towns. The two classes also have some similarities and differences in the types of jobs they have and their thoughts about each other.
The lower class mostly live in compact neighborhoods. Popular places are inner-city dwellings, so-called "slums", and some various housing developments. Some members of this class live with a number of other people to split the cost of the rent. The houses the lower class tend to live in are in the price range that best suits their job's pay, which are mainly jobs that pay in wages such as factory work or fast food jobs.
The upper class of society like to show off what they earn. They tend to live in expensive houses, condominiums, or even penthouses. Their houses are easily paid for because, unlike the lower class, they have occupations that pay a set salary such as lawyers, doctors, or large business owners. The upper class, just like the lower class, tend to dislike most things that are not in their same level of society. For example, the upper class like to think that the lower class are lazy, dirty, and just the scum of society while the lower class see the upper class as a bunch of uptight, selfish snobs.
The upper and lower classes of society tend to spend too much time bickering about each other to find their similarities and the importance of each other. Without the lower class there would be no one to work the many service or retail jobs that help society. Without the upper class around there would be no one to provide those jobs for the lower class to work. By the way this country looks, it does not seem likely that the social classes will be changed anytime soon.
